Chedet says NYET

Chedet says NYET to UMNO, but with a condition…

In our previous Chedet post we quoted him saying: "find the truth, let me go to court and tell the truth". A free man asking to be led to court is already weird to say the least.

Yesterday another strange move: Chedet announces that he steps down from the leading party UMNO, asking all to do the same until the actual Prime Minister resigns and then we all go back to UMNO…

Looks daring at first, but that’s not an all or nothing game, unless you want to be the new Prime Minister, a post Chedet aka Dr Tun Mahathir gave up a few years ago in favor of his handpicked actual Prime Minister.

So there is a lot of storm going on in a country already struggling to survive:

  • in a world-economy that’s getting worse every day
  • after elections that were a bit disturbing for the ruling party, yes that’s UMNO again.

In Europe we call that the "choose for me or this or that bad thing will happen" strategy to get the people behind you. Bush calls this the " or you are with me or you are against me" stand. Sounds similar to: "follow me on my journey out of UMNO".

Now there is one thing I never do: that’s comparing Bush with Chedet, so why suddenly I do it? Well, it puzzles me more than I can answer it. But both are examples where negotiations are no more an option: it’s either this or that, you choose…

The keyword is "puzzle" though…

Why does former Prime Minister Dr Tun Mahathir wants his hand picked successor to leave the scene? What’s the plan and who should then be the new Prime Minister Chedet?

In our family we do have a few chedets as well: the ones that work hard and have thriving businesses but just cannot let go of their power. Meaning: they don’t manage to delegate and let others take care of details, in other words: they just don’t want to resign because they think whatever they built will fall apart. Is this the case with Che Det? Most likely not, my family members are in business where chedet is in politics
